For over a year now we have walked this journey together. I started out walking by myself, and little by little more of you joined me. I have really enjoyed our give and take and the time we have spent together. This will be my last entry. As you can tell from the long delay in posting, I am investing my time and efforts in other directions. But I have genuinely enjoyed it, and I greatly appreciate all of you who have read so faithfully. May God bless you all!

Johnny Cash had a song called “A Boy Named Sue.” The whole story of the song is about a guy who goes through life hating his father for giving him a name like Sue because of all the trouble and embarrassment it caused him growing up.
I used to think that was a completely fictitious story but, the longer I live, the more Read more…

“Here I come to save the day!” Those words were sung by Mighty Mouse each time he descended from the sky to defeat evil. Apparently Barak Obama thinks he is Mighty Mouse. It doesn’t matter what the topic is or how ancient and complex the issues may be, Barak Obama says he can fix them.
The USA Today talks about a speech Obama made at the airport in Israel. In it, he Read more…

Like millions of others in the country, I stood in line on opening weekend to see the newest installment of the Batman series. I couldn’t wait to see the combination of Ledger and Bale in the super hyped blockbuster of the Summer. I must say, I was not the least bit disappointed. At least–not in the movie.
No! My disappointment comes today when I read in the Washington Times that Christian Bale has been detained Read more…

Who comes up with these ideas? I cannot imagine a set of circumstances where I would be thinking about how to offer a better pedicure for my spa customers and say–”I have an idea–let’s put some skin eating fish in a tank and have women put their feet in it!”
Predictably, that’s exactly what Read more…

I remember when you could go to McDonald’s and get a hamburger, an order of fries and a soft drink, slap a dollar bill on the counter and get a couple of pennies in change. I know–times have changed. You don’t need to remind me–God gave me kids who do a great job of that all by themselves.
But times have changed more than some Read more…

It’s not quite as soul stirring as Free Willy. It’s nowhere near as exciting as Shamu. But a 65-foot sperm whale made his own mark on the North Shore of Oahu recently. Since he doesn’t have a name, we’ll just call him “Stinky.”
According to an AP report, Stinky was first spotted off the shores of Kaneohe. Later, Read more…

A few days ago, Jessie Jackson muttered threats of cutting off Barak Obama’s nuts under his breath. With all the publicity of those unfortunate remarks, apparently Jessie Jackson has called off the hunt for Obama’s nuts and made a b-line to cut off George W. Bush’s nuts.
I apologize for the vulgarity, but there is no other explanation for George Bush’s latest yellow streak. It started when Read more…

I couldn’t believe my eyes. But there it was–right there in black and white. In an AP report in NewsOK.com, the Pope was in Sydney, Australia speaking to 200,000 ardent followers. In his speech, he said the world’s natural resources are being squandered in the pursuit of “insatiable consumption.” Crowds of people thronged Sydney streets Thursday evening, shutting down a large part of downtown during rush hour, as Benedict

John McCain recently spoke to an Hispanic advocacy group called the National Council of La Raza. According to a Bloomberg report, McCain brought up the massive immigration bill that he and Ted Kennedy wrote and attempted to shove down the country’s throat. The bill would have granted amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens and established a guest worker program to welcome even more illegals into our country. Thanks to a ground swell

By now, you have all heard about the damaging effects of methane on our environment. For quite some time now it has been on the list of Global Warming enthusiasts as a climate-altering greenhouse gas. Methane accounts for only 2% of the U.S. greenhouse gases, but in places like New Zealand, it accounts for over half.
The problem is, Read more…

Imagine, due to a glitch in the electoral system, the entire weight of the Presidential election fell on your single vote. That is the unlikely scenario that comes to life in Kevin Costner’s new movie, “Swing Vote.” The movie is being distributed by Disney and is scheduled for release on August 1, just in time for the real Presidential election. According to ABC News, Costner screened his new movie in D.C. this week.
Since Disney usually avoids political movies like the plague, Read more…

By now, you’ve all heard about Jessie Jackson’s remarks about Barak Obama which were picked up by a hot microphone during a break on a Fox News interview. He specifically said he believed Obama’s discussions about blacks families were “talking down to black people.” He then said he wanted to “cut his nuts off.”
According to NBC, Jackson has apologized and Read more…

G-8 stands for Group of Eight countries consisting of the United States, Japan, Russia, Germany, France, Britain, Canada and Italy. These countries are among the wealthiest in the world and are perceived to be the cog in the Kyoto Protocol wheel. The group has been under pressure to voice commitments by wealthy nations to push forward stalled U.N.-led talks on forging a new accord to battle global warming by the end of next year to succeed the troubled Kyoto Protocol when its first phase expires in 2012.
Well, the report is in and it is getting very mixed reviews. According to CBS News, Read more…
